ABOUT
ESSENTIAL EARTH FUTURES

We are a youth-powered nonprofit on a mission to shape a more sustainable tomorrow. At Essential Earth Futures (EEF), we bring climate education and environmental leadership training directly to the spaces where youth already live, learn, and play.

Mission and history
Mission

At Essential Earth Futures (GoEEF), our mission is to raise the next generation of Planet Protectors: young people equipped with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead the charge for climate justice and sustainability in their own communities and beyond.

We deliver hands-on, mobile, and inclusive climate education through pop-up eco-STEM camps, environmental storytelling, youth leadership development, and creative upcycling innovation. Our programs are designed for youth ages 6–17, meeting them where they live and learn, with content that is local, action-oriented, and deeply engaging.

From plastic pollution cleanups and solar energy experiments to eco-entrepreneurship challenges and community storytelling workshops, every GoEEF experience helps kids connect personal values with planetary solutions.

Founded on the principles of equity, creativity, and empowerment, GoEEF was born from a desire to make climate education more accessible, joyful, and rooted in community. We believe young people aren’t just future leaders. They are already leading and when we invest in youth, we invest in a just, sustainable future for all.

Our Vision

A world where every child is empowered to protect the planet, equipped with the knowledge, creativity, and confidence to lead bold solutions for a sustainable, just, and joyful future.

Vision

Youth First

We believe young people the leaders of tomorrow and the changemakers of today. We honor their voices, ideas, and leadership in everything we do.

Community Rooted, Future Focused

We meet kids where they are, literally and figuratively, with mobile programs that create local impact while equipping youth with tools for a global future.

Learning Through Doing

We bring sustainability to life with hands-on experiences. From building solar ovens to upcycling waste into art, we turn concepts into action kids can feel, create, and lead.

Action Over Perfection

We encourage progress, not perfection. Whether it’s recycling one bottle or leading a school-wide campaign, every action moves us closer to a better world.

Climate Justice for All

We champion environmental solutions that are rooted in equity. Our programs prioritize access and inclusion for communities historically left out of climate conversations.

Storytelling With Purpose

We amplify youth narratives and use storytelling as a catalyst for empathy, awareness, and action. Every voice matters, every story counts.

Core Values

We empower youth to face today’s environmental challenges with creativity, confidence, and action. Our programs are designed to meet kids where they are, with issues they see, feel, and care about:

We believe that change begins when young people are empowered to lead.

What started as a single storybook about plastic pollution has evolved into a growing network of eco-curious kids, future climate leaders, and hands-on educators across Georgia, and we’re just getting started.

It Started with a Story. Now It's a Movement.

Essential Earth Futures (GoEEF) was founded on the belief that young people deserve the tools, knowledge, and a platform to lead change.

The idea began to take shape while the founder was pursuing a master’s degree in sustainability leadership. Deeply influenced by the Brundtland Commission’s 1987 definition of sustainable development “Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs,”  she recognized the urgent need to educate and empower youth to protect the planet they would one day inherit.

With a background as a media practitioner and storyteller specializing in youth content, the founder saw an opportunity to make climate education more accessible and engaging. Drawing on this experience, she wrote the children’s book Prickles’ Plastic Pickle, a story inspired by the simple yet powerful narrative of a curious goat, a plastic bag, and a young boy’s decision to spark environmental change.

During its development, it became increasingly clear that most schools lacked a structured climate or sustainability curriculum. Recognizing this critical gap, the founder created the Eco-Explorers Educator’s Guide to help bring climate concepts into classrooms through hands-on, story-driven learning.

What started as a single book and a powerful question: “What if every child felt like they could change the world?” has grown into Essential Earth Futures, a mobile, youth-centered platform that delivers environmental education through eco-STEM programming, storytelling workshops, and sustainability-focused pop-up experiences.

GoEEF exists to help children see themselves as changemakers. Because every child can be a planet protector. All they need is a story, a spark and a chance.

We are proud to collaborate with forward-thinking schools, community organizations, businesses, and municipalities to extend the reach and impact of our programs.

Our partners make it possible to:

  • Provide free programming in underserved areas

  • Distribute eco-kits and learning tools

  • Train youth leaders and volunteers

  • Expand our mobile pop-up reach statewide
